Valentine Lemercier studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the CNIPAL in Marseille and quickly launched her career in Frances’ leading opera houses in roles including Mercédès in Carmen at Opéra de Lyon and Opéra de Paris, Margueritte in Jeanne au bûcher at Philharmonie de Liège and Lyon, Alisa in Lucia at the TCE, the 3rd maid in Strauss’s Elektra at Philharmonie de Paris, the title role in Carmen in Avignon, and Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Opéra d’Avignon.
This season, Valentine is the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte at the Opéra de Nice and makes her debut as Mademoiselle Lange in Lecocq’s La Fille de Madame Angot at the Opéra de Nice and the Opéra Grand Avi-gnon, directed by Richard Brunel. During the 2023 – 2024 season Valentine was heard as Mercedes in Carmen at Opéra royal de Liège, Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette for Opera Hong Kong, Troisième Nymphe in Rusalka for Opéra national de Bordeaux, the title role in La Péricole for Opéra de Tours, Deuxième Nymphe in Rusalka for Opéra de Nice, and Kate Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly for Opéra de Nice, Antipo-lis Théâtre d’Antibes, and Opéra de Vichy.
Recent engagements have included Mère Jeanne in Dialogues des carmélites for Opéra Royal de Wallonie Liège, Varvara in Katia Kabanova for Opéra de Toulon, Myrtale in Thaïs for Opéra de Tours and Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Alisea in Lucia di Lammermoor for Opéra de Monte-Carlo, and Flora in La Traviata for Opé-ra de Saint-Etienne.
Valentine has sung the Mozart Requiem in Paris, Nuit obscure by K. Beffa at Les Invalides, the Verdi Requi-em and was the first prize winner at the Concours National de Chant de Béziers.
