With more than thirty leading roles in his repertoire and twelve years of professional career, Diego Godoy stands among the most charismatic and versatile tenors of his generation, bridging continents through a voice that unites the lyric passion of the South with the noble tradition of European opera.
Recognized as the most distinguished Chilean tenor of the decade 2015–2025, Chilean tenor Diego Godoy, was named one of the “8 Leaders of Northern Chile” by the prestigious newspaper El Mercurio de Antofagasta in 2025, and received the 2024 Prix Révélation Musicale from the Festival des Escapades Musicales in France. His career has brought him to prestigious stages such as the Chorégies d’Orange, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Cairo Opera House, the Japan Opera Festival, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and the Wiener Konzerthaus.
In June 2025, for the third consecutive year, he performed the opening televised gala Musiques en Fête with the Chorégies d’Orange. In September 2025 he appeared once again as Don José at the State Theatre of Slovakia. In October 2025, Godoy made his role debut as Calaf in Puccini’s Turandot at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Moldova, where he was also featured as a special guest in the Gala celebrating the 90th anniversary of the legendary soprano Maria Bieșu. Following these acclaimed appearances, he was invited to return to the same theatre in November to perform Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca.
In the 2024–25 season, he performed Manrico in Il Trovatore alongside Anna Netrebko with Chorégies d’Orange and with Staatstheater Braunschweig, Don José in Carmen with Staatstheater Kassel, Cavaradossi in Tosca with the National Theatre in Bratislava. Later that season he also appeared as Ferdinand in The Tempest by Adès and returned to Kassel as Don José, a role he has embodied over thirty times throughout Europe.
