Bass BaoPeng Wang graduated from Tongji University in 2022 before relocating to Italy to further pursue his vocal studies. Since 2023, he has been studying at the Conservatorio “Arrigo Boito” in Parma under the guidance of Professor Rosy Orani. He has also participated in masterclasses with distinguished artists such as Luciana D’Intino and Giacomo Prestia, and continues his musical development with Maestro Alessandro Trebeschi.
Bass BaoPengWang has quickly gained recognition on the international competition circuit. In 2025, he was named a semi-finalist in Operalia, Plácido Domingo’s renowned international competition, and received Second Prize in addition to the Nicolaj Giaurov Prize at the Nicolaj Giaurov International Competition. In 2023, he won both the Piero Cappuccilli International Competition and the San Colombano Opera Competition, and was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Neue Stimmen Competition. In 2024, he was awarded First Prize in the Emerging Young Artists category at the As.Li.Co. International Competition.
Following his success at As.Li.Co., Wang made his operatic debut in January 2024 as Capellio in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, appearing at the Teatro Grande in Brescia, Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, Teatro Fraschini in Pavia, Teatro Sociale in Como, and Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia, under the baton of Sebastiano Rolli and in a production directed by Andrea De Rosa. Also with Opera Lombardia he performed the role of Monterone in Verdi’s Rigoletto, conducted by Alessandro D’Agostini, Timur in Puccini’s Turandot at the Teatro Sociale in Como.
Other recent engagements include the Grand Inquisitor in Verdi’s Don Carlo at Theater Kiel and the Friar in Don Carlo at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.
Upcoming performances include Timur in Turandot at Opera de Las Palmas and Timur in Turandot with at the Teatro Sociale di Como, followed by Cremona, Pavia, Brescia, Novara and Bergamo.
