Andres Cascante
Baritone
Born in San José, Costa Rica in 1993, baritone Andres Cascante inherited his passion for music from his grandfather, who was also an operatic baritone. He holds a Master’s degree from the Yale School of Music and completed the Artist Diploma program at the Juilliard School. He is a regular student of Dolora Zajick and a member of the Renato Bruson Foundation artists in Parma, taking lessons with Renato Bruson himself.
This past summer Andres debuted Germont in La Traviata at the Festival de Belle-Île-en-Mer. Future engagements include Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Opéra de Reims, Dandini in La Cenerentola at La Monnaie, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly with New National Theatre Tokyo, Silvano in Un Ballo in Maschera alongside soprano Anna Netrebko at Opera de Paris, a return to the role of Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Strasbourg, and his debut as Leporello in Don Giovanni at Festival de Belle-Île-en-Mer.
Cascante has also participated in several leading young artist programs, including the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro under the guidance of Ernesto Palacio, the Académie of the Festival d’ Aix-en-Provence, and the San Francisco Opera Merola Program. In 2022, he moved to Europe to join the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris, where he performed roles including Horloge Comtoise in L’enfant et les sortilèges, Germano in La Scala di Seta, and Pablo in The Exterminating Angel. In 2023, he joined the opera ensemble at the Teatro Regio di Torino for one season. In October 2024, he returned to France as a freelance artist, performing Yamadori in Madama Butterfly at the Opéra de Paris, making his debut in La Traviata at the Philharmonie de Paris, and singing Sacristan in Tosca at both the Opéra de Vichy and Opéra de Limoges.
In 2025, Cascante performed the lead baritone role in Mozart’s Zaide at the Opéra Grand Avignon, and appeared as Fiorello while also covering Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Opéra de Paris. In July 2025, he performed Conte Almaviva in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.
