Known for her work with Valery Gergiev, Mlada Khudoley recently joined the maestro this season for role debuts as Brünhilde (Götterdemmerung) and as Isolde. Ms. Khudoley was born and raised in Moscow and now lives permanently in the US. Her roles include those of Cassandra in Les Troyens, the title role in Bellini’s Norma, Puccini’s Turandot and Manon Lescaut, Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos and Salome, Verdi’ Aida, Lday Macbeth, Leonora in Il Trovatore, and Abigaille in Nabucco, as well as Wagner’s Brünhilde, Sieglinde in Die Walküre, Senta in Der Fliegende Hollander, and Elisabeth in Tannhäuser.
Miss Khudoley has appeared with the Mariinsky Theatre, the Metropolitan Opera, BBC Proms, Barbican Centre London, Carnegie Hall, the Dutch National Opera, Teatro Regio di Torino, Royal Danish Opera, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and at Edinburgh Festival among others. She appeared as Lisa in Pique Dame at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Abigaille at Oper Stuttgart, the Polish National Opera, and Royal Danish Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera, Minnesota Opera, Vancouver Opera and with Tampere Philharmonic in Finland. She appeared as Sieglinde with Bryn Terfel under the baton of Valery Gergiev at the Wales Millennium Center, and made her debut as The Kaiserin in Die Frau ohne Schatten with the same conductor at the Mariinsky Theatre.
Ms. Khudoley counts as her stage partners, Placido Domingo, Bernd Wielki, Matti Salminen, Riccardo Massi, Stephan Gould, Yevgeny Niktin, Mikhail Petrenko, Anna Netrebko, Wolfgang Brendel and many other renowned artists. Ms. Khudoley regularly collaborates with Maestro Valery Gergiev and has collaborated with Kent Nagano, Paolo Carignani, Seigi Ozawa, Symon Bychkov, Michael Güttler, and many others. Ms. Khudoley has appeared as Sieglinde to Placido Domingo’s Siegmund in “Die Walküre” on four separate occasions, including Maestro Domingo’s only performance ever at Teatr Wielki, Warsaw, Poland.
Her performances in the title role Turandot that opened Bregenz Festival during the summer of 2015 and 2016 won her excellent reviews. The production was recorded for DVD. She sang the title role Norma at Florida Grand Opera in January 2016. Recent engagements include Abigaille in Nabucco with Oper Leipzig, Turandot with Oper Köln, Cassandre in Les Troyens, the title role in Aida, and Senta Flying Dutchman all with the Mariinsky Theatre. This season she returns to Oper Leipzig for Turandot, Abigaille in Nabucco, and Turandot in Trieste.
